HOWDY

April 21 is just around the corner and that means TWO very important things:

1.  Muster
2.  Our 50th Reunion

Events will take place at the following:

College Station Hilton
Reed Arena
The Quad
Kyle Field

This is our final “stand alone” Reunion as an individual Class. At our 55th Anniversary Reunion we will be inducted into the Sul Ross Group. This group includes all Classes that have graduated from A&M for 55 years or more. (Don’t worry, your Class Agents are also committed to having Class of ’68 events in the future).

We have tentatively lined up some great guest speakers including, but not limited to:

BG Joe Ramirez, ’79, Corps Commandant
Porter S. Garner III ’79, President and CEO, The Association of Former Students
Jimmy Williams ’83, Chairman of the Board, The Association
Michael K. Young, President, Texas A&M University

As you look at the Schedule of Events, you might ask, “Do I have to attend each of the events on the schedule?” NO! You can pick and choose from events as you wish. “How am I going to get to events such as the barbeque, Kyle Field tour and others?” Simple, transportation will be provided.

How about outfit/dorm/club/other group gatherings? Reach out to your friends/buddies/pals from the past, and use the schedule to plan an opportunity to meet. The first opportunity to meet is Thursday night after the Class buffet. You can plan your own location, or meet in the hospitality suite and migrate from there.

There will be a lot of free time for us to gather in our Class Hospitality Room which will be at the Hilton in the Oakwood Ballroom, complete with cash bar, light snacks and tables where we can visit, catch up, and stretch the truth regarding past events from our days on campus.

Be sure to review the agenda for each day, and sign up using either the paper registration form or online registration. Also included is contact information for The Association, hotel information, information on check-in, free time options, special events, and sources of information you may need while in Aggieland.

Don’t miss this incredible event. Bring your spouse, significant other, family and get your friends/buddies/pals from the past to come. Register immediately, and plan to be amazed at all the changes at Aggieland. MOST OF ALL, come and enjoy the fellowship while reconnecting.

WELCOME CLASS OF '68

On behalf of the students of Texas A&M University, I would like to welcome you back to Aggieland! On April 19-22, your Class will meet for your 50th Anniversary Reunion. This year, I have the privilege of serving as your liaison to the Aggie Muster Committee, and I am excited to be working with your Class and your Class Agents to ensure that your Reunion is a memorable experience.

The Muster Committee is composed of 30 dedicated students, working to plan every aspect of the campus Muster ceremony. From compiling the Roll Call of the Absent, to planning the Camaraderie BBQ in honor of your Class, our committee works diligently to preserve the traditions of Aggie Muster. This year we are fortunate enough to have Mrs. Kathleen Gibson ’81 as our speaker for the ceremony. I hope you will all come back to Aggieland and enjoy your time here.

For over 50 years you have all been Aggies, spreading the Aggie Spirit wherever your life may have taken you. Now is your opportunity to return to Aggieland, and remember where your Aggie story began, as well as see the people who were a part of your Aggie experience. I would like to personally extend to you an invitation to contact me, either by phone, email. I look forward to getting to know you throughout this process. One of my projects is a display about the Class of ’68 as a part of the Reflections Display in the Flag Room. I would like to hear your stories, and see pictures you may want to share so that I might best represent your Class, not only for your Class, but also for the current students who will love to learn about your time at A&M. My contact information is below; please do not hesitate to reach out to me!

I look forward to celebrating your lives, your stories, and your return when you come back for the Reunion!

MUSTER COMMITTEE CALL FOR CLASS PHOTOS

Howdy, Class of 1968! The 2017-18 Aggie Muster Committee has been diligently working on ways to honor your Class and your time here in Aggieland. If you would like to share any photographs that were taken during your years at Texas A&M (1964-1968) and possibly have them included in the Muster Program or the 50th Anniversary Reunion Display, please send them (along with a description of what is taking place in the picture and who is in it) to muster.reunion@gmail.com.

Please have your photos submitted by April 1, 2018.

If an electronic version is not available, you may send copies (what is sent cannot be returned) to:

AGGIE MUSTER: REFLECTIONS

In order to more fully recognize and honor the lives of our Student Campus Muster Roll Call honorees, personal items will be displayed as a living memorial in the Muster Reflections Display. Family members of campus honorees submit photographs, letters, stories, Aggie Rings, or other personal items that reflect on their loved one’s life and what mattered most to them. It is our hope that we, as Aggies, can create an opportunity for these families to display their favorite things about their honoree and celebrate them by using these items to exhibit who their loved one was, what they did, and how they touched the lives of those around them.

These items will be displayed in the Memorial Student Center Flag Room from Monday, April 16 to Friday, April 20, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and on Saturday, April 21 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Family members may coordinate a time to bring items to the Reflections Display Chairs or send them by mailing to the following address below.

Attn: Martin Osorio ’19 and Amy Burdette ’20
Reflections Display – Aggie Muster
907 Cross St. Apt - 0312, College Station, TX 77840

For more information, please contact Martin Osorio ’19 or Amy Burdette ’20 at muster.reflections@gmail.com

CORPS SILENT FORMATION

On April 21, you will have the special opportunity to participate in the Corps of Cadets Muster Formation and Flag Raising Ceremony in Academic Plaza. It is well worth rising early to watch the entire Corps march into and out of Academic Plaza while they conduct a silent flag raising formation. Please make sure and sign up for this event on the registration form. There will be bus transportation from the Hilton to Academic Plaza, so there is no need to worry about parking and walking across campus. Sign up to attend and don’t miss out on this special opportunity.

AGGIE RING

The Aggie Ring team will be available during the Class of ‘68 50th Anniversary Reunion to assist you with your Aggie Ring. Get your Ring polished for an added shine or stop by if it needs to be resized, remade, or even add a diamond. They can also help you order a replacement Aggie Ring or Sweetheart Ring (a miniature replica of your Aggie Ring available to the wives of qualified former students, Class of ‘72 and before). A specific date and time for Aggie Ring Assistance will be published closer to the Reunion.

CLASS AGENT ELECTIONS

Class Agents serve as a liaison between their Class and The Association. This is the perfect opportunity to get involved as a former student, stay connected to the university, and gain some volunteer service. Elections are held in conjunction with your Reunions, so now is your chance!

Teams consist of two to five members of your Class, and serve a five-year term. As a Class Agent, you will serve on The Association of Former Students’ Leadership Council, which meets twice a year. The Association of Former Students provides orientation and resources to aid you in this role. Class Agents are responsible for keeping the Class informed through Newsletters, websites and emails, planning Class events and providing Annual Fund information to former students. You will be electing your Class Agents at this Reunion. The current Class Agents, Jim Boswell, Dan Daniels, and Shady Groves, are also looking for another Classmate to take over for Mike Beggs. Nominations for new teams will also be accepted.

If you would like to nominate a team or individuals, send an email to Class@AggieNetwork.com or call Class Programs at (800) 633-7514 prior to the Reunion.

CENTURY CLUB DONATION

Your participation in the annual fund has a significant impact on the education experience of our students and provides the resources needed to support programs and activities for students and former students.  We appreciate that you choose to participate and support Aggies and Texas A&M.  Make a difference by donating now.
