Clinton Haby ‘02 is helping keep memories of good times alive during the global pandemic by helping families and businesses capture their legacy on film.

Haby recently finished a filming session with the San Antonio A&M Club and Foundation to capture the Aggie spirit on film.
On Cinco de Mayo in 2009, Clinton Haby ‘02 started his own production company called StoryKeeping. During the coronavirus pandemic, Haby has exemplified an entrepreneur’s ability to adapt to the pandemic and make donations to help support those most at-risk.
This interview, which has been edited and condensed for clarity, about Haby’s experiences working through the pandemic offers an inside look at how he’s helping BTHO COVID-19.
What are you doing to BTHO COVID-19?
I developed a new system to interview people in a socially-distanced, contact-free manner so I can deliver a zero-risk experience for my clients. It wasn’t easy, and it cost me thousands of dollars to execute, but I now have peace of mind to reopen my business safely.
I’m also donating $100 from every new production to the H-E-B Senior Support Fund that enables senior citizens to order groceries online so they don’t assume any unnecessary risk. I made my first $100 donation on the 11th anniversary of my company, and look forward to many more to protect the senior community that has given my business purpose.
What tips or advice do you have for others who are coping with the pandemic?
Take care of yourself first. Then make sure everyone else is alright. Our greatest challenges produce our greatest victories. I see this in every StoryKeeping production, so have faith good will come of this too.
Have you used your liberal arts education during the pandemic? If so how?
I started out a mechanical engineering major but did terribly and ended up in journalism. I’m forever grateful for this because failing out of mechanical engineering meant I needed to take inventory of who I am, what I’m good at, and what I care about. This was an important step in leading me to where I am today.
So am I using my liberal arts education? Certainly. I’m a filmmaker. I use bits and pieces of the entirety of my life on every shoot. What I learned in the College of Liberal Arts is helping me run a successful business and BTHO coronavirus.
