Policy for Public Service Announcement Requests KAMU-FM, KAMU-TV

KAMU-FM and KAMU-TV, both owned and operated by Texas A&M University, are committed to serving the Brazos Valley’s public interest and providing a platform for important messages and information to be shared with our audiences. In order to fulfill this mission, we offer the opportunity for organizations to request the airing of free public service announcements (PSAs) on our stations.

However, we must also balance this commitment with the need to support the financial sustainability of our operations. Therefore, we have established the following policy for considering requests for free PSAs:

Eligibility: To be considered for a free PSA on KAMU-FM and/or KAMU-TV, an organization must be a non-profit or social service organization, a government entity or an institution of education and must have a mission that aligns with the mission of Texas A&M University.

Examples of eligible non-profit or social services organizations are those that offer:

• Child welfare services
• Public assistance
• Public health services
• Mental health services
• Aging services
• Homelessness services
• Addiction services
• Disability services

In addition, public broadcasting entities such as KAMU require content of PSAs to be informational in nature and must not promote any specific product or service.

Events are not eligible for consideration; however, they are eligible for inclusion in the online and broadcast versions of the KAMU Community Calendar.

Organizations that do not meet the eligibility criteria or that have exceeded the annual frequency limit (see below) may also have the opportunity to reach KAMU's audience through paid underwriting or community partnerships. For more information about these options, please visit the sponsorship page on our website or contact our marketing team.

Review and approval: All PSA requests will be reviewed by a committee of KAMU staff members, who will evaluate the request based on the criteria listed above. If the request is approved, the organization will be notified and the PSA will be scheduled for airing at the discretion of KAMU-FM and/or KAMU-TV.

Frequency: In order to ensure fairness and equitable access to free PSAs, organizations may only request up to four free PSAs per calendar year so we can serve as many non-profits as possible.

By following this policy, KAMU-FM and KAMU-TV are able to support the important work of non-profit and government organizations while also fulfilling our mission and supporting our financial sustainability.
