About this event

The Texas Legislature meets every other year to set the state's budget and make other important decisions impacting all Texans. Since 2003, Aggies and Longhorns have joined forces during the legislative session in support of higher education.

Orange and Maroon Legislative Day (OMLD) 2023 will be on Wednesday, Feb. 15. This event brings former students of Texas A&M University and The University of Texas at Austin together at the Texas Capitol in support of the shared legislative priorities of the two flagship universities.

Texas A&M needs YOU to be a voice for higher education before our state's key decision-makers! Please join us for this important day of advocacy for higher education in Texas.

Space is limited, so be sure to submit your registration as soon as possible to secure your spot.

Details for the event:

  • As a volunteer for OMLD, you will be placed in a group comprised of former students of Texas A&M and UT-Austin and 1-2 current students. Each group will be assigned a schedule of 5-6 office visits in the Texas Capitol.
  • To take part in the office visits, you must attend the volunteer kick-off and briefing at the off-site venue, 800 Congress. Check-in will open at 9:00 a.m., with the briefing to begin at 9:45. After the briefing, lunch will be served before groups are dismissed to the Texas Capitol. You will spend your afternoon in the Capitol.
  • Following the office visits, an optional reception will be held at 800 Congress to thank our volunteers, legislators, and their staffs from 5:30-7:30.
  • Full-day paid parking will be available near 800 Congress. Walking from 800 Congress to the Capitol, and back, is strongly recommended. This is a walk of 0.3 miles, or approximately 7 minutes, each direction.
